About L2SLiberia
A Liberian-led mental health organisation. Free. Confidential. Trauma-informed. For every Liberian.
Our Story
Born and raised in Liberia, our founder Reuben Reeves witnessed firsthand the devastation of untreated mental illness — neighbours chained because families had no other answer, women with nowhere to turn, children falling through every crack in a system that barely existed.
Rather than accept this as inevitable, Reuben asked a different question: What if the phone in every Liberian's pocket could become their first step toward healing?
From that question, L2SLiberia was born — a hotline anyone can call, a mobile clinic that travels to them, and a growing network of referrals that wraps around the most vulnerable.
“No Liberian should suffer alone, in silence, without hope.”
— Reuben Reeves, FounderTo provide free, accessible, trauma-informed mental health support to all Liberians through a toll-free hotline and mobile clinic, reaching those most left behind.
A Liberia — and a West Africa — where mental health is understood, destigmatised, and accessible to all. Where no person suffers alone.
Dignity. Accessibility. Cultural Humility. Trauma-Informed Care. Radical Transparency. People Before Institutions. Community Accountability.
Theory of Change
Our Theory of Change is our causal logic — the precise argument for how and why our actions produce the change we exist to create.
A toll-free hotline eliminates the cost barrier. A mobile clinic eliminates distance. Liberian counsellors eliminate language and cultural barriers. Visible, trusted services reduce stigma. Together, they lower the threshold for reaching out from impossible to possible.
Access alone is not enough. Our Liberian counsellors speak the languages and understand the culture of the people they serve. Trauma-informed principles — safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment — guide every interaction, every time.
Individual healing is sustained when people connect to broader systems: hospitals, safe houses, legal aid, child protection, community structures. Our referral network ensures no one is left alone after the first call.
Individual healing multiplied by community multiplied by time equals systemic change. Individuals stabilise, families strengthen, communities grow more resilient, and advocacy creates pressure for government investment in mental health across Liberia and West Africa.
A Liberia — and a West Africa — where mental health is accessible to all.
